En última instancia, se visualiza la cantidad de estudiantes que no regresaron a clases en los
distintos períodos y los porcentajes respecto al total de inscritos en el sistema educativo
público. Se destaca que en el periodo escolar 2019-2020 se presentó la matrícula estudiantil
más alta con un total de 2,058,675, que a su vez fue el periodo donde hubo menor deserción
escolar (2,95%). Por otro lado, en el 2020-2021 se presentó la reducción más significativa de
la matrícula con 2,204,251, y a su vez, el porcentaje más alto de deserción (6,95%) (ver Tabla
5).

Respecto a la deserción por género, la diferencia muestra una problemática marcada para el
género masculino, siendo estos estudiantes mayormente quienes abandonaron los centros
educativos en cada periodo; género masculino, mayor porcentaje en el 2020-2021 con un
8,26%, y género femenino, 5,64% en el mismo año. Género femenino: menor porcentaje en
